Michelle & Ben

Seeing Ben smile as I was walking down the aisle towards him. It made me realise that I had definitely found the right one.

– Carversham House, Sway Valley, Perth

WEDDING DATE: 18th October 2015

Unfolding on the the beautiful grounds of Carversham House, surrounded by lush greenery and hidden gardens the wedding between Michelle and Ben perfectly captured a classic romance.

Tell us about your love story!

We met at work, Ben proposed on the south Perth foreshore after telling me he wanted to go and take pictures of the CBD at night.

It was so lovely; it was also my birthday which made it even more special. (Everyone knew it was happening except me)

Describe what marriage means to you.

Being with the one person that means so much to you for the rest of your lives. Sharing new experiences and adventures together. Having someone to come home to every night and looking forward to it.

The wedding location.

We had our wedding at Caversham house (located in the Sway Valley), both the ceremony and the reception were amazing, even after it rained and they had to change the ceremony venue to indoors at the last minute.

The theme of your wedding.

We didn’t really have a theme. We just made sure that everyone had a good time.

The bride’s dress.

My dress was from Luv Bridal, it was a Mia Solano strapless gown in ivory with a beaded bodice and corset back.

Ceremony & reception.

They were both at Caversham house, ceremony was changed from the hidden gardens to indoors because of the weather. Reception was inside Caversham house.

Wedding songs.

Our bridal waltz was to Savage Gardens’ truly madly deeply. Walking down the aisle was to “to build a home” by Cinematic Orchestra. The recessional was to “happy together” by the Turtles.

All ceremony songs were played by a string trio. – Heaven Strings

Food, food, food!

We had a set menu for our dinner.

Entrée – slow roaster pork belly

Main – barramundi or fillet of beef

Dessert – chocolate fondant

Canapés were served before reception and coffee, tea, liqueur and chocolates served afterwards.

Most memorable moment.

Seeing Ben smile as I was walking down the aisle towards him. It made me realize that I had definitely found the right one.

What about the extra details?

We chose not to have bonbonnieres for our guests.

The main reason was because I have cancer. We made a donation to the Cancer Council on behalf of all the guests so that we knew the money was going somewhere to help others.

What’s the best advice you can give a bride and groom planning their wedding?

Don’t stress about the small things.

Make sure you take a few minutes on your wedding day to appreciate the day together – you have your whole life together but this day will only ever happen once.

Favourite love quote.

‘Love doesn’t make the world go ’round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile’

What do you look forward to most as Mr. & Mrs.?

Life hasn’t really changed. Just waking up every morning knowing you have someone by your side that wont let you down.
