“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

– The King’s School Chapel, North Parramatta

WEDDING DATE: 26 September 2015

GUEST NUMBERS: 100

Tell us about your love story!

Lindsay is from England and Issac is from Australia. We were both working in Hong Kong at the time we met. Coincidentally, we both moved to Hong Kong around the same time in 2010 and met in April 2012. Ironically, we met at a club in Lan Kwai Fong, one of Hong Kong’s most popular streets for drinking, clubbing and dining. We found commonality playing tennis.

We decided to move to Sydney (Issac’s home town) in 2014, and Issac proposed in January 2015 in Fragrance Garden, Sydney after a picnic with some expensive hot chips! He knows I love chips so he figured that would be the right moment to propose.

Describe what marriage means to you.

Whatever the weather, marriage means to stay by each other. We placed this verse on our order of service booklets:

No relationship is all sunshine, but two people can share one umbrella and survive the storm together.

The wedding location.

We married at The King’s School Chapel in North Parramatta, and the evening reception was at Park Hyatt Sydney.

We chose The King’s School Chapel because Issac went to school there. It is also a very British establishment. Given that we were not going to hold a wedding in England, we thought it would be nice to have a piece of England for Lindsay and her family in this traditional church.

Park Hyatt because we wanted a view of Sydney harbour for many of our overseas family attending our wedding. Also a great testament in making Sydney our home. We were also lucky, a rainbow appeared right outside our suite just before the wedding reception.

The theme of your wedding.

Rustic, woody theme. We made our own order of service booklets.

The bride’s dress.

Lindsay had no idea on the style of dress she wanted. The ones she liked did not look quite right. Luv Bridal’s expert consultant picked out the ‘Autumn’ dress for her to try, she was sceptical about it at first, until she stepped out in front of the mirror and knew this is the dress.

His reaction: he said “It was everything I imagined a wedding dress would be.”

Wedding songs.

At the church:

Proessional: Canon in D (Pachelbel)

Hymns: Joyful Joyful

Register signing: Can you feel the love tonight (Elton John)

Recessional: Wedding March (Mendelssohn)

At the reception:

We did not have a first dance but we entered the venue to:

September by Earth, Wind & Fire

Build me up Buttercup by The Foundations

Food, food, food!

Park Hyatt Sydney’s wedding menu

We served a good helping of the wedding cake:

Black Star Pastry Strawberry Watermelon Cake

Most memorable moment.

At the church. It was a beautiful setting.

What about the extra details?

For our wedding favours, we wanted to give something special. So we purchased the Make A Wish silver ‘Sharing Joy’ wedding pins and every guest wore it at the reception. We also showed a video of the meaning of the charity and what it is to share joy. Our wedding is to share our joy and hopefully the little pins we brought helped bring joy to other kid’s dreams too.

For the appreciation gifts for the girls, Lindsay also managed to find the Sass and Bide Collaboration with Make A Wish “Shooting Stars necklace” to coincide with the Sharing Joy pins.

What’s the best advice you can give a bride and groom planning their wedding?

We got engaged in February and married in September. We had 6 months to prepare but preparing the journey together is the first step to being a compatible husband and wife, so enjoy it together and don’t get stressed. Our tips on timeline and by priority:

Set the date.

View and set the venue.

Order the wedding dress (Lindsay went to a maximum of 2 shops. Don’t overload yourself on visiting loads of shops – Luv Bridal had a lot of selection. There’s no need to check out what other shops have. But do some internet search to get an idea on the type of dresses)

Order the cake, limo, make up and hairdresser.

These are all time sensitive things, so get these out the way first.

It helps that Lindsay is a designer and a writer so we were pretty hands on with the wedding invitation and stationary design. We added a little bit of British touch to our wedding invite envelopes by sealing it with a wax seal of our initials.

Set a combined email address.

Favourite love quote.

Our wedding reading was based around this verse which meant a lot in our

relationship:

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

1 Corinthians 13:7

What do you look forward to most as Mr. & Mrs.?

Building our life together and preparing for the arrival of our first baby in July 2016!
