TELL ABOUT YOUR LOVE STORY:
We met at a restaurant at Mudgeeraba- Gold Coast, we both worked there. He was a chef and I was the waitress. Charlie popped the question on Christmas day whilst we were on a cruise ship. He had set up a dinner for myself and my family and as we arrived to dinner there was a bottle of Moet on the table and it was a fine dining restaurant. And as we were having desert Charlie and I always get a cheese board at dinner time as well, and as they bought out the cheese selection the lifted the veil off and I was looking at the selection of cheese and in the corner was the ring in the box and as I seen it I yelled holy shit!!! Then Charlie got up and walked around to me and got on 1 knee and asked me to marry him.
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING PLANNING PROCESS:
We were engaged for 2 years, he proposed in December 2013 and we got married October 2015. Charlie and I planned the whole wedding by ourselves, Alinta is a very organised control freak so she didn’t leave it to anyone else. The best planning tool was ‘Gold Coast brides’ this Facebook page as past and present brides all helping each other. It was a great network. The best decision was to have fireworks and to share our day with another bride so we went halves on the fire works and it was amazing.
RECAP YOUR BIG DAY FOR US:
Charlie surprised a massage for all the bridesmaids and the bride the morning of the wedding, he is so sweet like that. It will be a recommendation for any grooms, this seriously put everyone at ease and made the morning so calm and relaxing. The speeches were something that really made us all laugh, everyone spoke so highly of both of us but loved making fun of us as well.Charlie is Italian and all the Italians would ding their glasses for us to kiss, this was not planned but it made the night so much fun.
WHAT ABOUT THE DETAILS?
Our theme was rustic, vintage yet elegant. We had children at our wedding so we didn’t want it to be a problem if something was to get broken. We had beautiful fresh flowers as our centerpieces in mix matching rustic jars, we had beautiful lace and dollies on wine barrels with the words, love.We had hessian as our table runner and big wooden tree stumps where the fresh flowers sat on top of. We had a photo booth which is always fun. An awesome live band that got everyone involved. This became a reality through being clear, being organised and emphasis exactly what I in-visioned.
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING DAY BUDGET?
Originally our budget was $30K but over time this tend to extend and extend, it ended being $40K with 95 guest. We saved with a lot of DIY things I made, I made photo booth polaroid, our name in wood to put on the bridal table etc, we saved on only have 1 menu, we got this made on a big board where everyone could see. For the kids I put jelly beans in milk bottles for their favours, using my pops car and having a friend partner for the band was all different ways we saved money. We splurged on fireworks, fresh flowers, personalised robes and personalised groomsmen’s gifts.
WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE A BRIDE AND GROOM PLANNING THEIR WEDDING?
Take time to plan what they want to plan, don’t listen to people about expense. We lived by the motto you can always make more money but can never get your wedding day back.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO MOST AS MR. & MRS.?
Starting a family, sharing the last name and waking up next to each other for the rest of out lives.
WHAT HAS SURPRISED YOU MOST DURING THE FIRST FEW MONTHS OF MARRIAGE?
How fast time goes, how much you put off when you are planning a marriage and how much more you learn about each other when you are married.
