Congratulations to Adele & Jake!

WEDDING DATE: 10th December 2016

Tell us about your love story!

Jake and I used to work together at a busy beachside hotel in Grange Beach, Adelaide while finishing our Uni degrees, I waitressed and he bar tendered. We decided to go out after work one New Years Eve’s and it wasn’t long after that until we started dating, we had our first official date at my favorite Italian restaurant at Henley Beach, it was then I knew he was a keeper. We moved in together a year later and started planning our future lives.

Jake popped the question on our five-year anniversary on the balcony, under the fireworks on New Years Eve at the Stanford Grand in Glenelg! It was so romantic and to top things off, we ended up making an appearance on Sunrise the next morning! We quickly set a date for December the following year.

Describe what marriage means to you.

Marriage is making a commitment to spend the rest of your life with the one that you love and building a future together, which supports each other’s goals, dreams and happiness. It is vowing to love that person unconditionally through life’s up and downs and supporting each other whole-heartedly.

The wedding location.

We tied the knot at one of our favorite wineries in McLaren Vale, Woodstock Wine Estate. We have always loved spending time in the McLaren Vale region and the picturesque surroundings of the vineyard and old gum trees accompanied by the most delightful food and wine were a perfect fit for us.

The theme of your wedding.

The theme for our wedding was rustic yet classic, we also wanted to it have a traditional feel. We incorporated warm colours of cream, ivory and peach along with rustic touches including twine, wooden centerpieces, jars of gypsophila and cascading flower arrangements over the wine barrels.

The bride’s dress.

After many shopping outings with my Maid of Honour, I fell in love with the most beautiful guipure lace gown at Luv Bridal. The Brighton by Mia Solano was everything I was dreaming of, simple and classic elegance. I didn’t want to take it off and I could immediately imagine myself walking down the isle in it and dancing the night away! The ladies at Luv Bridal helped make the whole process a memorable one and I will always cherish the moment I found it. Jake’s face was beaming with excitement when he saw me walk towards him on our wedding day and he told me later how beautiful I looked.

Ceremony & reception.

We had our ceremony in front of the beautiful, luscious vines at Woostock Wine Estate, followed by drinks and canapés in the picturesque surroundings and our Reception took place in the Coterie Restaurant overlooking the natural landscape.

Wedding songs.

We chose music that related to our rustic, classic theme and begun the night with soft acoustic songs, followed by some jazz favorites and finally some good old 80’s to get everyone grooving! Our first dance was At Last by Etta James. Jake and I took dance lessons leading up the big day and we enjoyed every minute, it was a good excuse to escape from the stresses of planning and spend some time together laughing and mucking around. On the night it felt so romantic and we finished our routine with a dramatic dip.

Food, food, food!

Woodstock served our guests with the most delicious entrees and mains followed by a decadent slice of wedding cake for dessert.

Most memorable moment.

One of the most memorable moments of my wedding day was when Jake and I snuck out of our reception to have some intimate photos in the vines just before sunset. I remember thinking how surreal it all felt and how much fun we were having.

What about the extra details?

Jake and I, along with our fabulous bridal party got to spend some time in Woodstock’s iconic barrel room. It was such a unique experience, we were able to have some classic themed photos followed by canapés and wine before making our grand entrance into the Reception. It was nice to have some time to let it soak in a little and enjoy this special moment with our bridal groomsmen and bridesmaids before celebrating with the rest of our close family and friends.

What’s the best advice you can give a bride and groom planning their wedding?

If I could give one piece of advice to other couples planning their wedding it would be to not worry about the small things and to be sure to take moment on the big day with just the two of you to let everything sink in.

Favourite love quote.

‘The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.’ – Audrey Hepburn

What do you look forward to most as Mr. & Mrs.?

Now that we are a Mr & Mrs we can’t wait to plan some more overseas travel and focus on putting the finishing touches on the new house we built together. We also look forward to starting a little family of our very own one day.
